Declan Rice has heaped praise on West Ham summer signing Gianluca Scamacca after his promising start to life at the London Stadium.

Scamacca secured a £32.5m move from Serie A side Sassuolo in July and has impressed whilst adapting to his new surroundings.

The Italian international has netted four times in his 13 appearances this season and Rice is excited by the prospect of what he will bring to the club in the coming years.

“I can tell you now he’s going to be unbelievable,” Rice exclusively told talkSPORT. “He‘s going to be really, really special.

“I’ve played with [Michail] Antonio for so many years and he’s done so many good things for this club. But he was never an out and out striker. He’s been made into a striker whereas Gianluca is the first out and out striker I’ve played with at club level and he’s just on another level.

Scamacca was strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer but when the French champions opted against meeting Sassuolo’s asking price, the Hammers took full advantage and tied up a deal for the 23-year-old.

With nine international caps to his name, Scamacca looks to be the future for the Azzurri but he will have to take a backseat when next month’s World Cup kicks off due to Italy’s failure to qualify.

But Rice has no doubt that West Ham have a special talent on their hands and the England midfielder admits the Italian has plenty of talent to unearth over the coming seasons.
