Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has addressed speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Dutchman, who previously played under United’s current target Erik ten Hag at Ajax, has reiterated his desire to stay at the Nou Camp.

Despite reports that De Jong is at the top of United’s summer transfer list, the player has made it clear that he has no plans to leave Barcelona. “I’m very calm here, delighted at Barça. I want to stay in Barcelona for many more years,” he told Esports RAC1.

Last summer, De Jong was also linked with a move to Old Trafford, but contract issues and his preference to stay at Barcelona prevented any deal from being completed. This time around, United are reportedly interested in adding at least one midfielder to their squad in the off-season, potentially two, with Ten Hag open to the possibility of Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek leaving.
However, Barcelona may need to sell players this summer in order to recruit new ones, making De Jong’s situation potentially more complicated. The midfielder has made 32 appearances for Barcelona this season, including two matches against United in the Europa League play-offs, and has scored two goals.
Renkie de Jong has come out and said that he is not interested in joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window. This makes sense as he wants to stay at Barcelona. United are supposedly interested in adding two midfielders to their squad, so De Jong would not be the best choice for them.
