Don’t you just love how football works sometimes?!
Both on and off the field, Barcelona are in a complete and utter mess and Koeman, who wasn’t deemed good enough for Everton, is tasked with turning the Catalonia ship around
After Barca suffered yet another setback last night, this time a 3-0 defeat at Benfica in the Champions League, Thierry Henry was asked about Martinez possibly walking the Nou Camp touchline.
Henry is assistant to the former midfielder for the Belgium national team, with Martinez’s last domestic job being at Goodison Park.
Nonetheless, Henry told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (29/09/21 at 10:05 pm) that he knows that the only thing ‘the boss’ is thinking about is the upcoming international fixtures.
“Well, first and foremost, only the boss can talk about that,” said Henry. “He’s from there, as you know.
“But, right now, he’s also the coach of Belgium national team and we have to prepare for the game against France.
“So, I know that is the only thing he is thinking of, right now.”
It would be something if, the two men who struggled to prove their worth in Everton colours, might just end up replacing each other at the Nou Camp.
Some might say that it’s a sinking ship, and regardless of whoever goes in, they will be drowned.
It does seem as though Koeman’s time is up, especially after that abject performance they put up in Portugal.
It’s only the small matter of facing the La Liga champions Atletico Madrid at the weekend, who could go joint-top with a win, whilst Barca are at risk of dropping out of the European places, altogether.
