Luuk de Jong, Garcia — 2: rating Barca players in Benfica loss

One of Barcelona’s few good performers of the night, the midfielder did a good job to create several chances for his teammates and even had a chance to score himself.

After being switched to centre-back, De Jong continued being active in the build-up.

Ronald Araujo — 7.5

The Uruguayan was our only good defender against Benfica, the only one who could keep up with their speed and intensity. Besides being solid at the back, Araujo’s passing was great as well.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen — 4

No one expects the German to save penalties, that would be too much to ask, but Ter Stegen could have done better in the moments with the first and second goals.

What’s more, he nearly caused a goal himself as he left the open to chase the ball but didn’t have enough speed to reach the ball first.

Eric Garcia — 2

Garcia wasn’t aggressive enough in the first episode with the first goal, letting the Benfica striker beat him off the dribble too easily. In the second goal, he didn’t react quick enough and the hosts were able to take advantage of the rebound. Finally, Eric got sent off towards the end.

Luuk de Jong — 2

Luuk missed at least three big chances, which is supposed to be his main job. Other than that, De Jong can’t offer the team much, as he’s not good in the build-up and doesn’t press well.

Others: Roberto — 4.5, Pique — 4, Dest — 5, Busquets — 5.5, Pedri — 7, Memphis — 6.5, Gavi — 6, Nico — 6, Coutinho — 6, Fati — 6.

Never say thank you for any good thing I do for you but rather when you get the chance, help 3 people and ask them to help 3 each and it proceeds till all get helped.
